2022 is also the 60th Anniversary of UWC Atlantic College, the birthplace of the UWC movement.

The Design of the Anniversary Logo

A dove flying out represents peace and the plant represents a sustainable future. The logo symbolises UWC's role in making education a driving force to unite people, nations, and cultures. The shape of "3" is taken from the shape of the UWC logo. And the 3 blend into a 5 to represent the 30th and 50th Anniversaries. As a joint anniversary, LPC & UWC HK will continue to spread the wings of connecting the circle for many more years to come. The many colours represent a diversity of people in LPC and other UWC Colleges. This joint anniversary is to celebrate two great milestones about connecting UWC’ers to a bright future together.

Alum Impact: Michael Yong-Haron (Pioneer Class of 1994)

Alum Impact: Michael Yong-Haron (Pioneer Class of 1994)

Michael, who belongs to the first batch of #LPCUWC graduates, describes his #UWC experience as like "living the United Nations everyday." Now Managing Director at Standard Chartered Bank, he is a staunch supporter of charities, having raised millions of dollars to benefit children and those with disabilities, among others. He says, "There is no right or wrong way to give back to our communities as long as we are giving back... Find what you are passionate about and always make time to give back no matter how busy or successful you become."

Alum Impact: Bruce Au (LPCUWC 2000)

He had a flourishing career with an investment bank in New York after graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. But over time, Bruce felt that what he was doing lacked meaning and purpose. This prompted him to pursue a degree at the Harvard Kennedy School which focuses on helping developing countries enhance their economies. "Had it not been for my UWC experience, I doubt that I would have that intention to try to work on issues for developing countries." Bruce is now Senior Project Manager at The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust where one of the programmes he handles involves inspiring technological creativity among primary school students.

Alum Impact: Gabriella Zanzanaini (LPCUWC 2002)

Gabriella, who graduated in 2002, advocates for gender equality, particularly in the workplace. She champions a change in mindset -- from thinking of gender equality as benefiting only women to it being embraced as creating an impact on the whole society. And in her role as Director of Pipeline Initiatives at The Women's Foundation, among those that resonate with her is what her UWC education cultivated within her: that a change in mindset comes from honest conversations and a safe space for dialogue and one free of judgment.

Alum Impact: Angus Lambkin (LPCUWC 1999)

Angus graduated from LPCUWC in 1999. He hails from Belfast is now a Civil Military Coordination Officer of the United Nations. He considers "linguistic diversity" as his biggest takeaway from LPCUWC.
